Welcome to Leadership Development Initiative Africa (LEADIA) website!!

LEADIA is a grassroots Christian initiative dedicated to equip leaders to address the root of poverty and injustice.

Challenge: The challenge for continued development in Africa is best met through harnessing the gifts and abilities of its people at local level so as to build capacity for sustained transformation and change. LEADIA strives to organize individuals and small groups, and to accompany them as they strengthen abailities already in their possession, and acquire new skills with which to construct a better future.

The real challenge of Africa is lack of the capacity to master its environment and harness it by utilizing the positive aspects for its people’s betterment as well lack of the capacity to influence other people’s behavior to meet the needs of its people. The root of Africa's challenge is lack of knowledge of true human self-identity and dignity, and unjust relationships due to many factors. The lackof knowledge of true self-identity and dignity, and unjust relationships ferments and nurtures ungodliness and wickedness such as selfishness, greed, pride and envy..., which have created internal and external debilitating and corroding habits, systems and structures that have plagued the continent of Africa. This is further complicated by the neopatrimonial state of African states; states in transition whereby pre-modern and modern strucutures co-exist.

Our mission comes from the conviction that “You can give a man/woman a fish and he/she’ll eat for a day, but if you teach a man/woman to fish, he/she can eat for a lifetime.” Developing countries of Africa have always depended on Europe and North America for funds and solutions to the challenges like community organizing, health promotion, economic growth, quality education and even evangelism and church growth. However, foreign prescriptions and resources will usually provide only temporary solutions. Permanent solutions must be culturally sensitive, locally resourced and must build a sense of ownership and accountability within the community, in order to be effective in the long run.

Hence our slogan: Building local capacity for the solutions to transform Africa 

Our strategy is to develop empowering and self-replicating leadership model and model ministries through effective followership. At the pinnacle of all these are quality of leadership, communal character of society and societal responsibility (effective followership) and, communal foundation and vision for the young generation.

The question here is not how to change individuals or communities but rather how to change a generation and how to align people's stories with God’s story of cosmic transformation. Our conviction is that, the foundation of transformation of Africa dedpends upon the quality of its leaders, community and children.

A project of this magnitude demands a proactive, collaborative and holistic approach, and commitment of enormous resources to succeed. Therefore, we appeal for your support and feedback to transform Africa.
